ABOUT OASIS

COMMUNITY KITCHEN

Oasis Community Kitchen is a fully-stocked, Allegheny Health Department certified shared-use commercial kitchen and education facility. The newly completed 685 square foot kitchen and 1,675 square foot multi-use space were intentionally designed and priced to support food-based entrepreneurs while they launch or scale their business.

The continued expansion of Oasis Foods, with Oasis Community Kitchen adds a much-needed resource in the heart of our neighborhood for local food entrepreneurs in particular. We aim to equip our neighbors with high-quality programs and resources that empower people with the three E's of opportunity—education, employment, and entrepreneurship. Any renter seeking additional business development support will also have access to Own Our Own Entrepreneurship Academy.

Additionally, Oasis Community Kitchen allows the Oasis Project of Bible Center Church to expand the collective food-based work, including hot meals for Neighborhood SCHOOL learning hub students, nutrition and cooking education and produce processing space for Oasis Farm & Fishery, and expanded catering and menu options for Everyday Café

MEET CHEF RON

Ron Harper's 30 years of culinary experience began in high school, where Ms. Jackson, owner of King James Barbecue in Wilkinsburg took him under her wing. He credits his early mentor for "...encouraging [him] and guiding him in that direction in her class." Ron graduated from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, interned at the University of Pittsburgh, worked his way up through the ranks in kitchens around the city of Pittsburgh, and aspires to own a food-based business.

As the newly hired operations manager for Oasis Community Kitchen, he is looking forward to building partnerships, collaborating, and interjecting his skills and experience into the overall project.
